Introduction
Welcome to the Town of Ulster!

The Town of Ulster is known as the "Business Hub" of Ulster County and the "Hudson Valley's Gateway to Beauty and Business". It continues to grow and thrive, due in part, to its excellent location. The Town of Ulster, nestled in the Hudson Valley in the Catskill Mountains, almost completely surrounds the City of Kingston -- New York's first capital. We are 90 miles north of New York City and 50 miles south of Albany, directly off of Exit 19 on the NY State Thruway/I-87, and also touching the south side of the Rhinecliff Bridge. The Town has easy access to Rhinebeck and Red Hook, Saugerties, Woodstock, and Hurley

The Town of Ulster is noted for its appeal to many different lifestyles. There are several hamlets including East Kingston, Whittier, Eddyville, Glenerie Lake Park, Lake Katrine, Lincoln Park, Ruby, And Ulster Landing. These hamlets offer residential neighborhoods; private, country homes; townhouses; and farm land.

Residents and neighboring communities enjoy the Town of Ulster's beautiful Charles Rider and Robert Post Parks, both along the Hudson River, boasting a boat launch, pavilions, picnicking, and fishing. The Town also has two other boat launches on the Esopus Creek and Rondout Creek (Visit the "Recreation Department" tab for more information)

We are an active, growing community and enjoy our beautiful location with so much to offer, the best of all four seasons, and a fantastic culture. There is easy access to great skiing, fishing, boating, hiking, theater, music, historical sites, shopping, fall colors, summer festivals, country fairs and much, much more. We are proud of our thriving local businesses, serving delicious cuisine and providing superior service to patrons. We also take pride in our vast array of shopping centers, restaurants, and hotels.
For more information, search our department directory, call our Town Clerk's Office at 845-382-2455, and enjoy our community!
